"Should we stay? We were here for Steven, and he’s gone now. I really don’t understand such a short-lived species celebrating the passage of time like this."
Pearl and ‘Cool Dad’ Garnet were still parked at the beach, enjoying the New Years holiday. Well, Pearl wasn’t exactly enjoying it.
"It’s because they live short lives. They find excuses to celebrate what little time they have. And what little time some of them have together. Also…"
Garnet threw an arm around Pearl, dragging her a little closer to her side.
"They apparently find the end of their year quite romantic. I hear some couples like to smooch when the clock hits twelve."
Pearl was shy enough in private. Being given attention in public was making her 10X more shy.
"Um…well…technically, it’s already past twelve in other parts of Earth. So really, we should go. I mean, there’s no reason to-"
Another volley of fireworks, signalling the stroke of midnight lit up the night sky. The momentary distraction was all Garnet needed. She gently turned Pearl face, stealing a kiss while the other beachgoers watched the fireworks.
"Happy new years, Pearl."
Pearl wasn’t complaining for once.
"Happy new years, Garnet."
They settled in to watch the end of the fireworks.
"And once we get back to the temple, don’t expect to stay in that sweater. Or the rest of your clothes."
Pearl was in for a long night.

Crumbling Walls
Picking up charred wreckage of a spaceship isn't the only thing Pearl has on her mind after "Space Race"; one is the guilt of what she almost caused to a certain little boy, and another is facing a very angry leader. Implied Pearlnet. R&R

Garnet had seen the explosion, and rose from the temple with Amethyst at her side, panicking until they saw the small parachute descending in the sky. Pearl clutched Steven close, just relishing in the feel of both of them being alive, and trying not to think of how - because of her - they were nearly not.
"You know, minus the almost blowing up junk, that was pretty fun," Steven said, as if he sensed P

Steven Universe: Dance
The sun had set, and Pearl was still pacing.
"It's not that I don't trust them," she said as she rounded the table for the fourth time, "It's just that this is entirely new, even for us!"
Amethyst had long since fallen asleep on the couch, while Garnet simply leaned against the wall, arms folded, occasionally giving a small little nod. "I mean...a Human-Gem Fusion?" the pale gem continued, putting a hand to her forehead, "That shouldn't even be possible! It raises so many questions! What will their weapon be? Will they have a weapon? Will this cause permanent physical changes when they de-fuse?"
She stopped suddenly at that, pinching her
